Letendre and Christopher lead Morehead State in 4-3 loss to Eastern Kentucky

Junior Noemye Letendre and senior Maddy Christopher each recorded three hits as the Morehead State Eagles lost 4-3 to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on April 18.

The game, played in Richmond, saw Morehead State take an early lead by scoring three runs in the second inning. Despite this start, Eastern Kentucky responded with four runs over the next five innings to secure the win.

Senior Rylie Burney took the loss for Morehead State, now holding a season record of 0-7. Junior Ainsley Stubbs started for the Eagles and pitched three innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter. In addition to her hits, Christopher contributed an RBI. Junior Sage VanDemark added a hit and two RBIs for Morehead State.

The Eagles out-hit Eastern Kentucky eight to five but were unable to maintain their advantage. The team drew five walks from Colonels pitching and faced a total of 27 batters during the game. Christopher led at the plate with a three-for-four performance including an RBI.

Eastern Kentucky was led offensively by junior Reese Knox, who went two-for-two with a double and two RBIs. Freshman Bayle Hunnicutt pitched five shutout innings for the Colonels.
