Bellarmine baseball achieved a milestone on May 2 by securing its highest single-season win total in the Division I era, defeating North Alabama 15-8 at Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium.
The Knights’ victory brought their record to 18-27 overall and 10-13 in ASUN play. This result marks the most wins Bellarmine has recorded since moving to Division I competition.
Bellarmine took control of the game with a seven-run third inning and followed up with five more runs in the fourth, establishing an early lead that proved decisive. The team finished with eleven hits and went six-for-eleven with runners in scoring position. Eli Watson led the offense, going three-for-five with five runs batted in. Jake Bell contributed three hits, including two triples, scored three times, and drove in two runs. Cole Huett hit a three-run home run during the third-inning rally, while Sawyer Pace also homered and added two RBI.
The Knights’ offense featured three home runs between the third and fourth innings to help build their advantage. On the mound, Deaton Oak earned the win after pitching four-and-two-thirds innings. Nikau Heeney provided relief following a North Alabama comeback attempt, while Evan Hart and Karl Ralamb combined to finish out the game.
North Alabama managed a five-run fifth inning but could not close the gap as Bellarmine added insurance runs late to maintain control of both the game and series momentum.
Bellarmine will aim for a series victory against North Alabama in Sunday’s finale scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
