On a date last month, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Jim Gray joined Federal Highway Administration Administrator Sean McMaster and Kentucky division administrator Shundreka Givan at the Kentuckians for Better Transportation conference to sign an agreement making $3.2 million of a previously awarded $25 million federal RAISE grant available for utility work on the Rebuild Downtown Mayfield project in western Kentucky.
The agreement is part of ongoing efforts to rebuild Mayfield following a devastating tornado. The funds will be used specifically for utility work as part of the broader downtown reconstruction initiative.
“Another step closer to rebuilding Mayfield! (…) This will help us build back better after the devastating tornado,” Gray said, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The $25 million federal RAISE grant had been previously awarded, with this portion now allocated to support essential infrastructure improvements in the area affected by severe weather.
More information about the agreement and its impact can be found through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s official channels.
