The Kentucky men’s golf team earned an at-large bid to the Bermuda Run Regional of the NCAA Tournament, according to a May 6 announcement. The regional event will take place at Bermuda Run Country Club from May 18 to May 20.
This marks Kentucky’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2022. The Wildcats are among the 81 teams and 45 individuals selected for six regional sites across the country. According to the release, “The low five teams and low individual on a non-advancing team from each region will qualify for a spot in the championship finals.” Thirty teams and six individuals in total will advance to compete in the finals scheduled for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Kentucky has made ten appearances at the NCAA finals site all-time, with its last coming in 2018. The Bermuda Run Regional includes schools such as Virginia, Ole Miss, Pepperdine, Georgia Tech, Southern California, Wake Forest (the host), Mississippi State, Little Rock, NC State, Houston, Richmond, Navy and Presbyterian.
The Wildcats’ season was highlighted by two team victories at both the Colleton River Collegiate and Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational—their first wins since 2018. Kentucky posted a team scoring average of 286.52 (+7.2) over ten events this season and finished under par as a group during eight rounds across four tournaments overall.
Freshman Cole Stockard led Kentucky with individual wins at both home events: Cullan Brown Collegiate and Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational—becoming “the first Wildcat to win multiple events in the same season since J.B. Holmes in 2003-04.” Stockard also led UK with a scoring average of 71.62 this season and recorded fifteen rounds at par or better while earning three SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
Stockard is one of three players who appeared in every starting lineup this season along with senior captain Jack Schoenberger and sophomore Jacob Lang.
