Kentucky men’s golf completed its run at the Southeastern Conference Championship with a final round score of 13-over par on Friday, April 24. The Wildcats finished in 16th place overall, posting a total of 28-over par for the tournament’s three rounds at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course.
The team’s performance concludes their participation in stroke play for this year’s conference championship. Sophomore Jacob Lang led Kentucky individually, finishing tied for 58th place with an overall score of five-over par after shooting a four-over-par 74 in the final round. This marks a significant improvement from his freshman year finish, when he placed 79th at eighteen-over par. Lang was also the only Wildcat whose scores counted toward the team total in all three rounds.
Freshman Cole Stockard made his debut appearance at the SEC Championship and finished tied for 65th place with a seven-over-par total. Stockard recorded ten birdies during the tournament, including two in his last round.
Senior captain Jack Schoenberger posted Kentucky’s best third-round score with a one-over-par 71, ending tied for 70th place at nine over par. Schoenberger played his last nine holes without any bogeys and secured one birdie on hole number seven.
Gavin Clutts joined as a substitute on day three and contributed to the team’s total by carding a six-over-par 76. Freshman Cameron Phillips ended his week twelve over par after shooting an eight-over-par final round, placing him in seventy-fourth position.
Looking ahead, Kentucky will await selection for NCAA Regionals during the NCAA Tournament selection show scheduled for May 6. The Wildcats are aiming to secure their first regional bid since 2022.
