Kentucky launches Friends of Agriculture license plate to support local ag programs

A new license plate supporting Kentucky agriculture is now available, offering drivers a way to show their support for the state’s agricultural industry while contributing to youth and promotional programs.


The Friends of Agriculture plate provides proceeds that benefit Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and Kentucky Proud, which are aimed at investing in the next generation of agriculture leaders. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to promote and enhance the state’s agricultural sector through marketing and development programs. According to the official website, the department also fosters agritourism, farmers markets, and farm safety through initiatives like Raising Hope.


“A new license plate supporting Kentucky agriculture is hitting the road. The newly released Friends of Agriculture plate gives Kentucky drivers a way to show their support for our ag industry, with proceeds benefiting Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and Kentucky Proud — helping invest in the next generation of agriculture leaders,” the department announced on Facebook.


According to the official website, Jonathan Shell has served as commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and operates a multigenerational family farm. The department operates across the state to support producers and promote local agricultural goods.


The department also supports agricultural economic development and policy implementation designed to benefit producers statewide. Residents interested in obtaining a Friends of Agriculture plate can visit their local County Clerk’s Office.
