Eastern Kentucky University redshirt junior Jacob Price was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week on May 5, according to an announcement from the league’s Jacksonville, Florida headquarters.

This recognition highlights Price’s recent performance in which he shut out Lipscomb for seven innings during EKU’s 2-0 victory on Saturday. The right-handed pitcher from Louisville, Kentucky allowed only four hits, issued one walk, and struck out a season-high eight batters.

Lipscomb entered the game ranked second in the ASUN with a team batting average of .293. However, Price limited their hitters to a .167 average over his seven innings on the mound.

Following this outing, Price improved his record to 4-3 for the season with an earned run average of 5.33. He is currently second in the conference for innings pitched at 72.2 and ranks ninth in strikeouts with 57.

The Colonels are scheduled to play Western Kentucky on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
