WKU Baseball defeated Kennesaw State 9-8 on April 24 at Nick Denes Field, improving their record to 23-20 overall and 8-11 in Conference USA play. The game saw multiple lead changes before the Hilltoppers secured the win in the sixth inning.
The matchup was significant as it shifted the all-time series between WKU and Kennesaw State to a narrow advantage for the Hilltoppers, now leading 3-2. The victory also marked WKU’s sixth consecutive game with ten or more hits, demonstrating consistency in their offensive performance.
Camden Ross and Austin Haller led WKU’s offense, each collecting three hits. Haller scored twice and drove in a run, while Ross added two runs batted in and crossed home plate once. Manny Alberto contributed with a triple and an RBI, while Dalton Fiveash set a career best by scoring two runs.
Jude Favela earned the win for WKU by pitching one scoreless inning in relief. Mick Uebelhor recorded five strikeouts over 2.2 innings, allowing just one hit during his appearance on the mound.
Head coach Marc Rardin said about his team’s effort: “What’s good when you’ve got a strong culture team is anybody on any given night can step up for you and we needed it tonight, good job by Camden Ross and Kyle Hayes providing that for us.”
The Hilltoppers will continue their series against Kennesaw State with game two scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Nick Denes Field.
