WKU Baseball will travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee for a three-game Conference USA series against Middle Tennessee beginning Friday, May 1. The games will be held at Reese Smith Jr. Field and streamed on ESPN+.

The series is important as both teams hold identical conference records of 9-12, with WKU entering the matchup at 24-21 overall and Middle Tennessee at 22-23. This meeting marks the 258th all-time contest between the two programs, with WKU leading the historical series.

The Hilltoppers have won five of their last six games and recently took two out of three from Kennesaw State. Lane Arroyos led the team offensively last weekend with six hits, four runs, and three RBIs. Arroyos currently leads Conference USA in batting average (.382), on-base percentage (.495), slugging percentage (.648), doubles (21), and is ranked fifth nationally in doubles. Three other Hilltoppers—Hayden Robbins, Austin Haller, and Camden Ross—are also batting above .300 this season.

On the mound, WKU’s pitching staff has a collective earned run average (ERA) of 5.47 with a total of 405 strikeouts this year. Their strikeout-to-walk ratio stands at 2.53, which ranks second in Conference USA and No. 31 among NCAA Division I teams.

Middle Tennessee comes into the weekend after falling to Vanderbilt earlier in the week. The Blue Raiders are hitting .280 as a team with Owen Nowak posting a .333 average and Dean O’Neill leading in hits (59) and RBIs (46). Their pitching staff holds an ERA of 5.10.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s matchups, both teams aim to improve their standing within Conference USA as postseason play approaches.
