WKU Baseball lost to Missouri State 8-6 in a 12-inning game on April 18 at Hammons Field.

The loss brings the Hilltoppers’ record to 19-20 overall and 6-11 in Conference USA play. The extended game saw both teams trading leads, with the Bears ultimately securing the win on a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the twelfth inning.

The early innings were quiet, but WKU opened scoring in the third after Hayden Robbins and Lane Arroyos delivered back-to-back singles. Missouri State responded with three runs in their half of the third. WKU narrowed the gap when JP Acosta singled and Ian Nguyen doubled him home. In later innings, Kyle Hayes contributed a key single to tie the score, while Arroyos reached base multiple times and drove in two runs.

Gavin Perry started for WKU, pitching five and one-third innings and allowing four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Dawson Hall and Zach Lyles also pitched out of the bullpen for WKU. Offensively, Robbins, Parker Coley, and Acosta each finished with two hits; Acosta has now recorded multiple hits in consecutive games for a total of four times this season. Both Robbins and Nguyen hit doubles during Saturday’s contest.

WKU will finish its three-game series against Missouri State on Sunday, April 19 at Hammons Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., with audio streaming available through Varsity Network.
