WKU Baseball lost to Kennesaw State 9-5 on April 26 at Nick Denes Field. The Hilltoppers now have a record of 24-21 overall and are 9-12 in Conference USA play.

The game saw Kennesaw State take an early lead with a solo home run in the first inning, followed by another run in the second. WKU’s Kyle Hayes responded with his ninth home run of the season, but a three-run fourth inning gave the Owls a four-run advantage. Austin Haller hit his second home run of the year for WKU, narrowing the gap to two runs before Kennesaw State extended their lead again.

Lane Arroyos contributed with his seventh career home run and also logged his 21st double of the year, tying him for ninth-most doubles in a single season in program history. Camden Ross and Hayes each added solo home runs as well. Manny Alberto had two hits and scored once during the game.

Jacob O’Day started on the mound for WKU, while Nathan Lawson, Ka’olu Holt, Gage Olsen, and Zach Lyles pitched out of the bullpen. Despite multiple offensive highlights from Arroyos, Haller, Ross, Hayes, and Alberto, WKU was unable to overcome Kennesaw State’s offense.

The Hilltoppers will next travel to Clarksville for a Tuesday matchup against Austin Peay at Raymond C. Hand Park. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time and will be available via ESPN+ streaming.
