FOIA Request to University of Louisville regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.

The Bluegrass Times has submitted a formal request for information under the Kentucky Open Records Act to the University of Louisville. The request seeks comprehensive records detailing employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. The request was sent on December 5, 2025.

The specific information requested includes various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time).

The Bluegrass Times has expressed an understanding that not all fields may be present in every record and has requested that all responsive records be produced regardless of field presence. In cases where portions of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, they have asked for the release of non-exempt portions in redacted form rather than withholding entire documents.

As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, Bluegrass Times emphasized their role in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency. They have also requested a fee waiver due to their status as media professionals.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this organization can be found on their website here.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
