Josh Lowe, a 6-foot-8 forward, has signed to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University, the university announced on April 18. Lowe joins the Colonels after two seasons at Moberly Area Community College and is ranked among the top-100 junior college players in the nation.
The addition of Lowe brings size and versatility to Eastern Kentucky’s roster as they look ahead to future seasons. His performance at Moberly Area Community College demonstrates his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively.
During the most recent season, Lowe averaged 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and making 42 percent of his three-point attempts. He went 35-for-85 from behind the arc. “Josh is very skilled, versatile and can really score the basketball,” EKU Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said. “He’s relentless on the offensive glass. The most intriguing thing about Josh is how he competes on the defensive end and can guard multiple positions.”
Lowe recorded six double-doubles during the season, including a season-high of 26 points against Missouri State-West Plains on January 28 and a season-best of 13 rebounds—eight coming off offensive boards—against Highland Community College.
As a freshman in the previous year, Lowe averaged 3.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while playing for Moberly Area Community College.
