Eastern Kentucky University baseball loses series finale to Lipscomb

Eastern Kentucky University lost to Lipscomb, 10-5, in the series finale at Earle Combs Stadium on May 3.

The game was significant as it concluded a series between the two teams and highlighted key performances from both sides.

EKU took an early lead in the first inning when Pedro Moreno scored on a double steal. However, Lipscomb responded with five runs in the second inning, including a three-run home run by Brady Miller. Jordan Thomas added a solo home run for Lipscomb in the third inning, and Miller drove in another run with a single in the fourth. EKU managed to score twice in the fifth inning through a bases-loaded walk by David Alvarez and an RBI ground out by Khaleel Pratt.

Lipscomb increased their lead with three more runs in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Alvarez hit a two-run home run for EKU that traveled 426 feet over right field—his sixth homer of the season. Boone Shevey contributed by going 2-for-4 with one run scored, while Dylan Littlefield had two hits from five at-bats. Alvarez finished his day with one hit, one walk, one run scored and three RBIs.

For Lipscomb, Miller ended up going 2-for-5 with four RBIs and Thomas went 2-for-5 as well with two runs and an RBI.

With this loss, EKU’s record stands at 12 wins and 36 losses overall (5-19 ASUN). The team is scheduled to play Western Kentucky next Wednesday at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
