The Eastern Kentucky University track and field teams will conclude their outdoor regular season by competing in two separate meets, according to an April 30 announcement. The Colonels will participate in the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington on May 1 and May 2, as well as the Duke Twilight in Durham on May 3.

This weekend’s events provide a final opportunity for athletes to improve their performances ahead of the ASUN Outdoor Championships later this month. Both meets are expected to feature top performers from Eastern Kentucky University.

At the Jim Green Invitational, All-American Taha Er Raouy is scheduled to run the men’s 1,500 meters. Er Raouy holds a school record of 3:39.48 in this event, which currently ranks first in the ASUN conference. Metrine Serem will compete in the women’s 1,500 meters after previously recording a conference-leading time of 4:17.69 at Wake Forest.

Lariah Wooden leads EKU’s throwers into competition with participation in the women’s shot put on Saturday. Wooden is a two-time ASUN indoor shot put champion and currently ranks second in her league with a throw of 14.78 meters. Other Colonel throwers ranked among the top five include Matthew See (shot put and hammer), William Kissick (discus), JJ Love (hammer), Alex Camarca (javelin), Amya Livingston (shot put), Lexi Lawless (discus), and Senda Garma (hammer).

Five Colonels are set for Sunday’s Duke Twilight meet. Edna Chelulei will make her outdoor debut this season in the women’s 5,000 meters after earning first-team All-American honors indoors and setting a school record earlier this year in the women’s 10,000 meters with a time of 31:33.57. Morgan Kobylinski (5,000 meters) and Khadija Ennasri (3,000 meter steeplechase) join Chelulei for EKU’s women at Duke; Mario Priego Montero will race the men’s 5,000 meters while Bradley Giblin competes in the men’s 1,500 meters.

After these competitions conclude, Eastern Kentucky University track and field athletes are scheduled to return for further action at the ASUN Outdoor Championships from May 14-16.
