The Eastern Kentucky University softball team will travel to Louisville for an ASUN Conference series against Bellarmine, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 25. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the finale will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. Saturday’s games will be streamed on ESPN+, with live statistics available throughout the weekend.

This matchup holds significance as EKU currently sits third in the ASUN Gold Division and has a chance to move into second place with a series win over Bellarmine. The Colonels recently split their last conference series against Central Arkansas and are coming off a midweek loss to Marshall.

Earlier this season, EKU hosted Bellarmine at Gertrude Hood Field and won the series two games to one. In that meeting, Jada McLeod scored the decisive run in a close opener, while Victoria Byrum threw a six-inning no-hitter in game two as EKU won by run rule. Bellarmine avoided being swept by winning the final game of that set.

Bellarmine enters this weekend’s contest with an overall record of 11-33 and is led offensively by Tia Ice, who has collected 36 hits this season. Lele Bennett leads their pitching staff with a 5.56 earned run average over nearly 120 innings pitched. This year marks Whitney Arion’s first season as head coach after serving previously as an assistant at EKU.

EKU leads the all-time series between these teams, having won nine of their last ten meetings.

Looking ahead, Eastern Kentucky aims to finish its regular season strong before shifting focus to postseason play in the ASUN Tournament.
