Clifford J. Kessen, 99, of Union, Kentucky, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Hospice of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood. Born on September 14, 1925, in Covington, Kentucky, he served his country with valor in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations, earning a Bronze Star with an Oak Leaf Cluster.
Clifford retired as a Logistics Co-Ordinator for the Northern Pacific Railroad and was a devout member of St. Timothy Church in Union. He was actively involved in various organizations, including the American Legion, Railroad Retirees Club, and R.C. Durr YMCA, among others. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Lee Kessen, and son-in-law Billy Patrick.
Survived by his wife, Patricia Kessen, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Clifford was known for his service to his country, devotion to his family, and active participation in the community. Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy Church on Monday, August 25, 2025, followed by interment at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown with Military Honors.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Boone County Animal Shelter in honor of Clifford Kessen. The Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Erlanger is serving the family. Flowers and memorial trees can be ordered through the flower store in memory of Clifford Kessen.
