The Clay County Fiscal Court announced on Apr. 30 that it is accepting sealed bid proposals for a range of public works and service contracts, with all bids due by Friday, June 5 at 1:00 PM. The proposals will be opened on Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 PM in the Clay County Fiscal Courtroom.
These bid notices are significant as they cover essential services and materials needed for county operations over the next fiscal year. Projects include gravel supply, steel cribbing installation, asphalt paving and patching, winter mix delivery, concrete mix supply, plastic tile provision, earthworks operations, gabion basket supply, indigent burial services through a licensed funeral home, and core drilling or geotechnical boring work.
Interested vendors can pick up bid packets and specifications starting Friday, May 10 at the Office of the County Judge Executive located at 102 Richmond Road Suite 201 in Manchester. Each contract will be effective from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The court reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and may withdraw awards if dissatisfied with performance.
Specific requirements vary by project type. For example, steel cribbing contractors must provide proof of one million dollars in liability insurance and workers compensation coverage. Core drilling contractors must also meet similar insurance requirements; however, those bidding on core drilling cannot be awarded contracts for steel drilling as well.
For certain projects such as earthworks and gabion baskets supply or core drilling/geotechnical boring services, the court may accept multiple vendors to fulfill these needs throughout Clay County.
These bidding opportunities allow local businesses to participate in county infrastructure improvements while ensuring competitive pricing for taxpayers. The process also aims to maintain quality standards by requiring insurance documentation and providing oversight through performance-based contract terms.
