The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Apr. 17 that youth, parents, and leaders are encouraged to prepare for significant changes to Sunday meetings and the youth curriculum set to take effect on September 6, 2026.

These changes include the introduction of an updated “For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices,” which will serve as the primary curriculum for Young Women classes and Aaronic Priesthood quorums. The Church said these updates aim to strengthen discipleship among youth, deepen home-centered gospel learning, and foster unity as young people worldwide study shared principles.

The new guide consists of twelve chapters—one for each month—focused on doctrine, principles, and real-life application. Starting in September, classes will study one chapter per month with an emphasis on making choices centered around Jesus Christ. Youth are invited to read through the entire guide before September 6. To help with preparation, a worldwide reading experience will be hosted via social media channels beginning May 3, inviting families and leaders to participate together each week.

A special fifth-Sunday meeting is scheduled for August 30 where youth and their families can watch instructional videos provided by the Church followed by local discussions introducing the new curriculum. Emily Belle Freeman, Young Women General President, said: “The purpose of the updated FSY guide is to help youth gain the tools they need to become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. As young women and young men learn to study, apply, and live the principles found in the guide, they will naturally become more like Christ.”

Curriculum materials supporting weekly lessons will be included at no cost in future issues of “For the Strength of Youth” magazine starting in September; digital copies will also be available earlier each month through Gospel Library resources. Timothy L. Farnes, Young Men General President said: “Lifelong discipleship begins with daily discipleship…As you walk with Him, you will discover that Jesus Christ is your strength. Allow Him to be your guide in every choice you make.”

According to the official website, The Church promotes eternal families through temple rites; temples are used as sacred venues for ordinances and covenants; there are more than 17 million members across over 30,000 congregations worldwide; Jesus Christ is emphasized as Savior while inviting faith and repentance; leadership comes from general authorities seeking divine counsel; local congregations are managed by volunteer leaders serving without pay.
