Buddy L. Waite, aged 94, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Rosedale Green Health and Rehabilitation in Latonia, Kentucky. Born on August 26, 1931, in Covington, Kentucky, Buddy was the son of the late Robert and Hannah Waite. He dedicated his career to serving others, working as a retired Insurance Agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After retirement, he continued his service as the Assistant Supervisor for the Kenton County Parks and Recreation Department.

A veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War, Buddy was a significant part of the Ludlow Vets, serving as a member and Past President. He was also a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Ludlow.

Buddy’s commitment to public service was evident through his roles as Ludlow City Councilman for two terms and Ludlow City Mayor for two terms. He was bestowed various honors, including induction into the Ludlow High School Hall of Fame, the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame, and the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame in 2020.

Preceded in death by his wife Mary Catherine Waite in 2011 and brother Robert Waite in 2019, Buddy is survived by his daughter Nancy Gilbert, sons Dave and Ty Waite, companion Kay Finn, stepdaughters Joy Herbstreit and Cheryl Kiefer, stepson Steve Modlin, brother Dale Waite, nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Buddy will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home in Hebron, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm. A burial with Military Honors will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the Ludlow Vets at 830 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
