Boone County announced on May 8 plans to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with a community event at the Boone County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 20. The celebration will run from 4 to 10 p.m. and is open to residents of all ages.
The event aims to bring together the community in recognition of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the shared history of Boone County. Local partners, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, Boone County Public Library, and Boone County Historical Society are collaborating on this milestone celebration.
Activities scheduled for the evening include a fishing derby, live music, kids’ games and activities, booths hosted by community groups and vendors, as well as fireworks to conclude the festivities. Organizers said they hope families will attend and spend time together during this historic occasion.
“We hope you’ll bring your family, invite your friends and neighbors and spend the evening with us as we celebrate this important moment in our nation’s history,” organizers said in a statement.
Boone County fosters a high quality of life for residents and businesses through its diverse landscape and strategic location, according to the official website.
