The Bellarmine University softball team lost its last midweek game of the season to Tennessee Tech on April 14, with a score of 8-0 in five innings at Tech Softball Field.

This loss marks the twelfth consecutive defeat for Bellarmine, which now holds a record of 10-31 overall and 3-12 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. The Knights struggled to contain Tennessee Tech’s offense, as the Golden Eagles scored runs in each of the first two innings and added six more in the fourth inning, including a three-run home run by Makayli Harris.

Despite having runners reach third base in four separate innings, Bellarmine was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Junior Brooke Shewmaker led Bellarmine offensively by going 2-for-2 at the plate. Sophomore Lauren Guthrie contributed with a triple, and freshman Tia Ice recorded a double during the contest.

Tennessee Tech improved its record to 15-24 overall and 7-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play after this win. The strong offensive performance from Tennessee Tech ensured that Bellarmine could not close the gap throughout the shortened game.

Looking ahead, Bellarmine will resume Atlantic Sun Conference action with an upcoming three-game series against Lipscomb scheduled for April 18-19 in Nashville.
