The Bellarmine University softball team lost 8-4 to Lipscomb in the final game of a three-game series on Sunday, Apr. 19 at Draper Diamond.

The game saw Bellarmine (11-33, 4-14 ASUN) take an early lead in the third inning after both teams went scoreless through two innings. Lauren Guthrie delivered a bloop single that brought in the first runs for the Knights.

Lipscomb (12-33, 5-13 ASUN) responded by tying the game with two RBI singles in the fourth inning. The Bisons then surged ahead in the fifth with a grand slam, making it 6-2. Lele Bennett added an RBI single for Bellarmine in the sixth to narrow the gap to three runs.

However, Lipscomb extended its lead by scoring two more runs in their half of the sixth inning. Freshman Lily Jones started off the seventh inning with her second home run of the season, but it was not enough as Bellarmine could not mount a further comeback and fell short.

Bellarmine will next return home to Knights Field for its final home games of the season against Eastern Kentucky on April 25 and April 26.
