Bellarmine baseball lost 6-3 to Central Arkansas in the series finale at Knights Field on April 26, as the Bears completed a weekend sweep.

The outcome is significant for Bellarmine as it marks a full sweep by Central Arkansas over the weekend. The game began with Bellarmine taking an early lead after Landon Akers hit a double and AJ Swader followed with an RBI double. Eli Watson added another run-scoring double, putting Bellarmine ahead 2-0 after the first inning.

Central Arkansas responded with a two-run home run in the third inning to tie the score and then took a one-run lead in the fourth on another solo home run. Swader tied the game again for Bellarmine in the sixth inning by hitting his tenth home run of the season, which moves him into a tie for fifth-most home runs in a single season during Bellarmine’s Division I era.

As both teams entered the late innings tied, Central Arkansas regained control by scoring on a wild pitch in the eighth and adding two more runs in the ninth. Akers and Swader each had two hits during Sunday’s game, while Watson also contributed multiple hits and an RBI.

Bellarmine will return to Knights Field on Wednesday to play against Morehead State at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
