The average Kentucky driver will pay $45.53 more at the pump in January 2022 than they did in January 2021, according to an analysis of gas prices from the AAA motor club and Federal Highway Administration (FHA) data by Bluegrass Times.
Kentucky drivers will pay an average of $2.94 per gallon of regular gasoline this month versus $2.12 last year. This is a 38.2 percent increase equaling $0.81 per gallon.
Of the nine Kentucky metropolitan areas analyzed, drivers in Huntington-Ashland (KY only) faced the largest price hike at the pump in the last year of $62.15. Covington was spared the worst pain, with the price of gas rising $41.27 from January 2021 to January 2022.
