FRANKFORT, Ky. – Attorney General Cameron joined a coalition of 26 states opposing a Biden Administration proposal that would make it easier for the federal government to justify new regulation.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) recently proposed a rewrite of Circular A-4, which governs how federal agencies conduct cost-benefit analyses of new regulations. Among other things, the suggested rule would adjust the discount rate and time horizon of regulatory analysis, making it easier for the alleged benefits of new regulation to outweigh the costs. The change would be a significant departure from longstanding, bipartisan precedent.“The Biden Administration’s sustained regulatory assault must be stopped,” said Attorney General Daniel Cameron. “I will not stand by while the President puts his thumb on the scale in order to justify more burdensome regulation.”
Attorney General Cameron was joined by attorneys general from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
