FRANKFORT, Ky.  – Attorney General Daniel Cameron today announced a $49.5 million, multi-state settlement with software company Blackbaud.

“We live in a digital age, making data security paramount,” said Attorney General Cameron. “I’m proud to have secured this settlement for the Kentuckians who were harmed by Blackbaud’s failure to protect their personal information.”

The agreement settles allegations that Blackbaud’s negligence led to a data breach that exposed the personal information of millions of consumers, including Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial and health information. As part of the settlement, Kentucky will receive $678,547. In addition, Blackbaud has agreed to strengthen its data security and breach notification policies.
