Northern Kentucky University Norse women’s tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against Milwaukee on Apr. 17, with senior Alyssa Cameron playing a key role in the final regular season match of 2026. The event also served as Senior Day, honoring Cameron along with men’s tennis student-athletes Emilio Bravo and Jackson Poulos.

The match was significant for the Norse as it marked their first Horizon League victory of the year. In doubles play, Catharina Cardoso and Darya Gneidina lost at second doubles, but Haley Slay and Cassia Adamowsky tied things up by winning third doubles. The deciding point came from Cameron and Sydney Zakic, who won a close tiebreaker 7-6 (12-10).

In singles competition, Milwaukee took an early lead by winning matches at the #5 and #2 spots. However, Slay’s straight-set win evened the score before Cardoso put NKU ahead with her own two-set victory in sixth singles. With both teams tied after Zakic’s three-set loss at first singles, Cameron clinched the overall win for NKU by defeating Sara Simonova in three sets—7-5, 1-6, 6-2.

The detailed match results show strong performances across both singles and doubles for Northern Kentucky. The team’s efforts were highlighted by competitive play in multiple three-set matches.

Looking ahead, Northern Kentucky will compete as the sixth seed in the Horizon League Championships next weekend at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. Their opponent will be determined based on final league standings.
