Murray State softball catcher Allie Waldron was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, according to a May 5 announcement from the league office in St. Louis.
This recognition highlights Waldron’s recent performance during the team’s weekend series at Drake. She is the second Murray State player in two weeks to receive this award.
Waldron recorded six runs batted in, two doubles, and two home runs over the weekend. In Friday’s 17-6 victory, she went three-for-four at bat with two three-run home runs and a double. Defensively, she contributed 11 putouts, three assists, and did not commit any errors.
So far this season, Waldron holds a .329 batting average and is second on her team for hits (46), doubles (11), and walks (23). She has also tallied 29 runs batted in and five home runs during her freshman campaign with Murray State.
